This June, the Natalie Kate Moss Trust took over the streets of Manchester to spread their Prevention message as they offered free Blood Pressure Checks.

At the Natalie Kate Moss Trust, we know that not all brain haemorrhages are preventable. But some are, through lifestyle.

High blood pressure is the leading cause of lifestyle-related brain haemorrhages (Stroke UK), and as such, our aim is to PREVENT THE PREVENTABLE through encouraging everyone to check their blood pressure more often and to manage it accordingly.

This was the aim of NKMT’s campaign, as they set up shop on Market Street, Manchester, speaking to the public about the importance of regularly checking their blood pressure and how high blood pressure can potentially cause a devastating brain haemorrhage.

Supported by the medical students of Manchester University, the team managed to test the blood pressure of 451 people whilst speaking to them about how they can manage their blood pressure through lifestyle e.g. managing their weight, exercise, better sleep, lower alcohol consumption, stopping smoking, etc.

But in true NKMT style, the day was not your normal charity awareness campaign. With drag queen Belinda Scandal there presenting and Mr Wilson's Second Liners disrupting the streets of Manchester with their New Orleans style jazz band parading the streets, the event was loud and noisy in order to cut through the noise of everyday life to get this important message heard and to encourage more people to get involved.
