The Philip Moss Memorial Golf Day, held on 4th October was a remarkable success, raising £11,036 for The Natalie Kate Moss Trust.
Held in memory of Philip Moss, a trustee of the charity and father to Natalie, the event brought together family, friends, and supporters of NKMT, for a day of golf and remembrance on what would have been Philip’s 69th birthday. This year’s golf event saw 76 golfers take part, with an additional 20 joining in the evening festivities.

Philip Moss
Philip Moss, a passionate sportsman, was known for his sporting achievements. A former rugby player at Orrell Rugby Club during its prime, Philip played alongside legends such as Bill Beaumont, Fran Cotton, and Mike Slemen. He also had an impressive golf career, achieving a handicap of 6 at one point. His love for sports and his deep commitment to his family were remembered fondly throughout the day.
The event not only honoured Philip’s memory but also raised crucial funds for The Natalie Kate Moss Trust, a charity that was established in memory of Philip's daughter Natalie, who tragically passed away from a brain haemorrhage in 2011 at the age of 26. All proceeds from the day will go directly to supporting the trust’s mission to prevent and treat brain haemorrhages. The Natalie Kate Moss Trust works in close partnership with The University of Manchester to fund cutting-edge research and initiatives that could help save lives and the fund raised at the Golf Day helped to fund the work of Katie Murray - who NKMT have been supporting over the last 3 years - to fund her research investigating the impact of intracerebral haemorrhage on cell-cell interactions. The funds raised on the evening will enable NKMT to fund the bio-imaging needed in her research to help develop better therapies for brain haemorrhage.
Adding a unique touch to the day was guest speaker Mark Agnew, who shared the incredible story of his world-record kayak voyage across the Arctic Northwest Passage. His tale of perseverance and adventure resonated with the spirit of the event, reminding everyone of the strength and resilience that can be found even in the face of adversity.
It was an emotional day, filled with poignant moments, as participants not only enjoyed the sport Philip loved but also rallied around a cause that was deeply personal to the Moss family.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to all of the event’s sponsors, without whom the day would not have been possible and contributed significantly to the event’s success; Chassis and Cab Specialists Limited, Juniper Financial Planning, Outhwaite & Litherland, and GM Property Management, Their generosity ensured that all of the £11k raised goes straight to The Natalie Kate Moss Trust’s work to prevent and treat brain haemorrhages.
The combined efforts of the participants, sponsors, and supporters helped the Philip Moss Memorial Golf Day exceed its fundraising goals, making a real difference in the fight against brain haemorrhages.
